Mar. 13: The St. Lawrence University women's lacrosse team won its second straight game on Wednesday, defeating Keene State by the score of 11-6 in West Palm Beach, FL. Four Saints had multi-goal games, including senior Brigid Hurley's hat trick.

St. Lawrence improves to 2-1 after outshooting Keene State, 25-16. The Owls (1-3) struggled in transition, completing only 11-of-18 clears while the Saints were 15-of-16. Adden Cunningham picked up the win in net with six saves, while Erin Taylor made 12 stops in the loss for Keene State.

"I thought we played well, especially in transition, but were plagued by turnovers in the offensive end," said St. Lawrence head coach Jodi Canfield. "We were able to hold much of the possession, but need to cut down on the giveaways in tomorrow's game."

Co-captain Stephanie O'Rourke, Carly VanTassel and Michaela Maybee also added two goals each for the Scarlet and Brown. Maybee also had a team-high four ground balls along with co-captain Holly Noyes. Eliza Witherbee and Lauren Brown each scored twice for Keene State.

Maybee and VanTassel scored goals only :42 seconds apart in the opening two minutes of the game, and though Brown answered for Keene State, a three-goal run put St. Lawrence ahead 5-1 only 7:02 into regulation. VanTassel, Maybee and O'Rourke helped their team to a four goal advantage.

Keene State would pull back to within two at 5-2 after goals by Brown and Polly Grey, but a goal with only :17 seconds left in the half by Hurley would shift the momentum back in St. Lawrence's favor, up 6-3 at half.

The Saints would build on that momentum in the second half, rattling off four straight goals to take a 10-3 lead. Noyes, co-captain Joey Kelley, O'Rourke and Hurley would push the advantage to seven with 19:47 remaining. Though the Owls would score three of the game's final four goals, St. Lawrence would coast to the 11-6 win.

Noyes added a pair of assists for the Saints, while VanTassel and Mackenzie Collins each had one helper.

St. Lawrence will play its final game of the spring trip tomorrow, Thursday, March 21 against Becker at 11:00am.
