Twelve Saints Earn All-Conference Academic Honors

June 24: ECAC Hockey has announced that 136 student-athletes from the conference's 12 programs have earned 2009-10 All-Academic status.  St. Lawrence University had 11 representatives on the All-Academic roster, including seven repeat honorees.

Three members of the Class of 2010 became three-time honorees, including captain Tara Akstull and assistant captains Britni Smith and Courtney Sawchuk.  Classmates Becky Street and Brittony Chartier, who were honored in 2008-09, also earned their way on to this year's Academic squad.

Meanwhile, seven players set to return to the Saints for the 2010-11 campaign were recognized for their academic achievements from this season.  Kirsten Roach, Nikki Bongaerts, Lauren Brozowski and Kyrsten Venasse represent the Class of 2011, while Vanessa Emond and Josee Belanger earned places on the All-Academic roster for the Class of 2012.  Finally, Brooke Fernandez was the lone rookie to earn a spot on the All-Academic team.

To be deemed eligible for ECAC Hockey All-Academic honors, players much earn a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.00 on a 4.00 scale or have a grade point average of 3.00 over the past three semesters.
