St. Lawrence Alumna Wins Second Olympic Gold

Feb. 25: St. Lawrence University alumna Gina Kingsbury '04 has won her second Olympic gold medal as Canada's women's hockey team defeated the United States 2-0 in Vancouver on Thursday evening.
Kingsbury, who earned All-America honors as a Saint in her senior season, won a gold medal with Canada in the 2006 Olympic Games in Turin, Italy. The Rouyn-Noranda, Quebec native has been with the Canadian Women's National Team since 2000, playing in six IIHF World Women's Championships as well as seven Four Nations Cups.
She was a two-time All-Conference player while at St. Lawrence and remains in the University's top-5 in career points (152) and goals (74). Kingsbury also holds the school record with nine points in a game (4 goals, 5 assists).
Canada used a pair of goals from Marie-Philip Poulin and a fantastic outing in net by Shannon Szabados to keep the American's offensive attack quiet en route to victory.
Former St. Lawrence University assistant women's hockey coach Jodi McKenna, who served as an assistant for Team USA at the 2010 Olympics, helped guide the Americans to the silver medal.
