Cone Leads Saints To 3rd at William Smith
None of the Saints broke 80 on a tough 5820 yard par-72 layout on Saturday, but Cone had the second best round of the day on Sunday with a 77, two strokes behind medalist Hannah Schnnau-Taylor of Allegheny. Cone finished tied for fifth with rounds of 85 and 77 for a 162 total while Snizek, who shot 84-80 was tied for ninth at 164.
Allegheny won the tournament with a four-player total of 639 strokes while Vassar was second at 662 and the Saints third with a 669 total, one stroke better than fourth place Nazareth.
Alair Muzzatti was the third Saint finisher with rounds of 82 and 87 for a 169 total, good for a tie for 13th while Kristin Berretta tied for 24th with rounds of 89 and 86 and a 175 total score.
Beth Kessenich, playing in her first collegiate tournament, battled nerves and the tough course on Saturday, but played a much better round on Sunday and finished 56th as the fifth Saint golfer.
