Pavlus Nominated for NCAA Woman of the Year Award

June 24: Liberty League Commissioner Tim Danehy has announced that the Liberty League has officially nominated St. Lawrence University's Wendy Pavlus and Vassar's Sarah Warner for the NCAA's 2011 Woman of the Year Award.
Pavlus, who finished her career with four national championships including two in cross country and two in track and field, was also nominated for the Honda Collegiate Women Sports Award for the second time. Though she was not selected as the national winner, The American Honda Motor Co. Inc. donated $1,000 to the St. Lawrence women's athletic fund on her behalf.
"We are so proud of all of Wendy's accomplishments during her tenure at St. Lawrence, but we are also proud of the poise and humble nature in which she carried herself," said University Director of Athletics Margie Strait. "She is an excellent nominee for these national awards and I personally wish her the best in her future endeavors."
Pavlus was named the winner of the 2011 Martha Finch Outstanding Female Senior Athlete at St. Lawrence this spring, and was the runner-up in the 10,000m run at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
The top-30 honorees for the NCAA Woman of the Year award will be announced in late August, with the winner announced on Sunday, October 16.
