Kara McDuffee '15 led the Saints with 20 points against Potsdam State on Friday.

Jan. 4:  Sophomore guard Kara McDuffee led three Saints in double-figures with 20 points as the St. Lawrence University women's basketball team topped SUNY Potsdam, 71-48, in Friday's non-conference road game.  Sophomore Ally Cady and junior Kelly Legg added 16 points apiece, helping the Saints improve to 6-3 on the season before opening up Liberty League play on January 8th, hosting Skidmore College.  Meanwhile, Potsdam fell to 1-9 on the season and was led by junior Jessica Kouzan's 11 points.

"It is good to be back on the court again after a three-week break," said St. Lawrence head coach Dan Roiger. "We were a little bit rusty and had some slow stretches, but we also had some excellent runs where we really played well.  We had some excellent plays by a number of people and our defense was solid for most of the game.  When we play together like that and have a balanced scoring attack, we can elevate our game.  We will look to carry that type of play into our conference schedule."

After struggling to find a rhythm in the opening minutes, St. Lawrence took its first lead of the game with 3:36 left in the first half and didn't look back.  The Saints used 58% shooting from the floor and a 34-26 advantage in rebounding to open the 2013 portion of their schedule with a victory.

McDuffee added six steals and four assists, while Cady and Legg combined for 12 rebounds.  First-year student Amanda Roberts tallied six assists for the Saints, while junior Cassie St. Hilaire and first-year student Lauren Quattrocchi combined for 11 points.
