Morris, LaPorte, Venezia Have Top Finishes at Syracuse

Kyle Morris finished fourth in the high jump, coming within .02 meters of the St. Lawrence  record in that event and Kiersten LaPorte and Jessica Venezia had fifth place finishes to highlight Saint performances in the Syracuse Invitational at the Manley Field House Saturday.

The Saints rested several top performers for the weekend in preparation for the Liberty League Championships to be held at the Newell Field House Feb. 13.

Morris jumped 1.55 meters (5-1), just short of her collegiate best of 1.56 established at Ottawa. The Saints record in the event is 1.57 meters. LaPorte won her heat in 9.12 meters in the 55 meter hurdles and was fifth in the final with a time of 9.23 seconds. She also finished 12th in the 200 meters running 28.16. Venezia had a best of 10.77 meters (35-4) in the triple jump to finish fifth and also won her flight in the long jump with a 4.90 meter (16-1) jump and finished 11th overall in that event.

Jacquelynn Lemme was sixth in the 500 meters with a time of 1:22.21 with Morris finishing 20th, Kelsey Rebehn was sixth in the 400 meters in 1:03.06 and Megan Nuffer finished ninth in the high jump for other top ten performances by Saint athletes.

Jessica Ingalls finished 11th in the shot put, McKayla Nuffer finished 14th in the mile in 5:31.45, Erikka Nuffer finished 21st in 11:24.15 and Andrea Maynard was 24th in the 3000 meters.
