Saints Ranked #17 in the Northeast Region

Hillary Drewry '12 and the Saints are ranked #17 in the Northeast Region.
Nov. 4: The St. Lawrence University women's tennis team is ranked #17 in the Northeast Region in the 2011-12 Division III ITA Preseason Rankings. The duo of senior Hillary Drewry and first-year student Elkie Vandenbeemnt are ranked #13 for doubles teams after it claimed the 1st doubles state title at the 2011 NYS Championships, and finished the fall season with a 12-2 record.

The Saints recently capped their stellar fall season in which they participated in several tournaments, and also defeated both Hamilton and Plattsburgh in dual matches. St. Lawrence welcomed several newcomers to the squad who had outstanding collegiate debuts, including Vandenbeemt, who advanced to the 2nd singles NYS final, and finished the season with a 9-3 individual record. Olivia Arroyo was also impressive, as she captured the state crown at third singles. The Los Angeles, CA native concluded the fall season with an 8-2 overall record.

St. Lawrence will be back in action in the spring for its traditional season. The squad will battle several ranked teams including Skidmore, Vassar, Rochester, William Smith, Wesleyan, Ithaca and Stevens.
