Saints Finish 6-10, Nationals Next

Jackie Barrett won 3-1 at four in the Franklin and Marshall match

St. Lawrence University's women's squash team completed the regular season portion of its schedule with a 6-10 match record after a 9-0 loss to sixth-ranked Cornell and a 5-4 loss to 18th-ranked Franklin and Marshall at Cornell on Saturday.

The Saints, ranked 22nd nationally in the latest College Squash Association poll, will play in the Howe Cup at Yale Feb. 26-28.

Cornell swept all ten matches by 3-0 match scores in the morning, but the Saints put up a good battle in their narrow loss to Franklin and Marshall.

Sofi Garnett and Jen Hearn lost 3-0 and 3-1 respectively in competitive matches at one and two. Meg North won 3-1 at three, beating Katherine Barnes 11-8 and 11-7 before Barnes came back with a 11-7 win in game three. North closed it out with a 11-8 win in game four.

Jackie Barrett turned back Sheena Suckoo 3-1 at four, the two trading wins in games one and two before Barrett finished it off 12-10, 11-8 and Frances Robinson won 3-2 at five against Tanya Arora. Arora won game one 11-8, Robinson won game two 11-6 and Arora won game three 11-8 before Robinson closed it out with 11-3 and 11-6 wins.

Jessie Ziegler lost in three at six, Molly Caplan lost in four at seven, but Alyssa Smith won 3-1 at eight, beating Steph Tzarnas 11-9 and 11-3 befoe Tzarnas forced a fourth game with a 11-9 win in game three. Smith closed it out 11-5. Kendall Harty lost 3-0 at nine to complete the match.
