  • Head Men's and Women's Squash Coach

    Chris Abplanalp began his first full as head men's and women's squash coach in 2005-06 after taking the Saint teams to their highest rankings ever as interim coach from December through the end of the 2004-05 season He was named Liberty League Coach of the Year for both men's and women's squash in 2006 and was men's Liberty League Coach of the Year in 2010 and again in 2011. 

    He led his men's team to the Summers Division championship at CSA Team Nationals in 2007-08 and the Saint men's team has made a steady climb up the national rankings, reaching a high of 13th in 2011, a season which included a 2-1 record at CSA Team Nationals. 

    His Saint women's program has finished as high as 12th in the national rankings and has shown steady improvement in the last three seasons with a young roster.

    Abplanalp, a Canton native and a lacrosse player at Connecticut College, spent several seasons as assistant men’s lacrosse coach.

     

  • Assistant Men's & Women's Squash Coach

    Chris Sachvie joins the Saint program as assistant squash coach for both the men's and women's squash teams after a highly successful career as a collegiate player at Cornell.

    Sachvie was a three-year captain and was a three-year All America and two-year All-Ivy selection. He was a member of the Canadian provincial and national junior squads before attending Cornell and won a gold medal with tam Ontario at the Canada Winter Games in 2007. He played number one on the Canadian team in the Pan American Games in 2006.

    He has been coaching at the White Oaks Resort in Niagara-on-the-Lake, ONT for six years, mainly at the junior level, doing both clinics and individual instruction. He was also the coach of Team Ontario in the Battle of the Border vs. Team USA in summer 2009 and 2010.

    Dr. John Bursnall will serve as the men's and women's squash team's Faculty/Staff Mentor for 2010-2011.

    Dr. Bursnall was named Professor Emeritus in 2006, having completed an outstanding career in the Geology Department at St. Lawrence University.

    Dr. Bursnall's areas of specialization include: Structural geology, tectonics, metamorphic and igneous petrology; deep crustal structure in the Canadian Shield; Northern Appalachian structure and tectonics; multiply deformed terranes; fault rocks.
