Four Captains Named for 2010 Campaign
May 12: Mary Jane Sweetland '10 and Anna Parrott '10 will be returning as captains for the 2010 St. Lawrence University women's lacrosse season, and will be joined by classmate Lexi Wisnowski '10, as well as Kelsey Redpath '11, as announced by Saints Head Coach Jodi Canfield at the team's annual dinner in early May.
As a junior, Sweetland (Hopewell, NJ/Stuart Country Day) was the team's fourth highest scorer, recording 16 goals and seven assists for 23 points. She also collected 14 ground balls and caused two turnovers while controlling five draws. A leader both on and off the field, Sweetland was awarded Honorable Mention honors from the conference and was named to the All-Academic team as well.
Parrott (Concord, MA/Holderness) continued to make her presence known when on the field in 2009, as she started in 14 games and picked up 32 ground balls, control six draws, and cause 12 turnovers. She was named to the conference All-Academic squad for her efforts in the classroom.
An essential contributor on both ends of the field, Wisnowski (Middlebury, VT/Middlebury Union) will join the leadership after playing in 10 games for St. Lawrence in her junior season, starting in eight of them. She recorded three goals and one assist for four points, while collecting 16 ground balls, controlling 22 draws and causing five turnovers.
In her sophomore season, Redpath (Norwich, VT/Hanover) earned All-Conference Honorable Mention accolades after anchoring the Saints' defense in the 2009 campaign. While she also scored four goals and added five assists, it was the 44 ground balls, 28 caused turnovers and 11 controlled draws that made her an effective asset to St. Lawrence's back line.
The Saints concluded their 2009 campaign with a 6-8 overall record and a fourth place finish in the Liberty League.
