Pavlus, Howard Repeat as Atlantic Region Award Winners

Nov. 18: For the second straight year, St. Lawrence University junior Wendy Pavlus and women's cross country head coach Mike Howard have won major awards from the NCAA's Atlantic Region. Pavlus has been named the Women's Regional Athlete of the Year, while Howard is the Regional Coach of the Year.
"I'm very proud of our entire team for what they've already accomplished this season, and I'm honored to be given this award," said Coach Howard. "Wendy (Pavlus) has established herself as one of the premier athletes in the nation, and we'll look for her to lead us again on Saturday."
Pavlus has had another impressive season for the St.
Lawrence women's cross country team. The Tupper Lake, NY native has won three
times in 2009 and successfully defended her individual championship at the NCAA
Atlantic Regional race last weekend. Pavlus, who also won both the Saratoga and
Ronald C. Hoffmann Invitationals, will be looking to earn All-America status
for the second straight year this weekend at the national championship race.
Meanwhile, Coach Mike Howard has guided his team to the NCAA Championship for
the second straight season and the fourth time in the program's history. The
Saints won the program's first NCAA Atlantic Regional championship last weekend
and have landed as high as No. 6 in the national polls, the highest position in
team history. Howard also coached his team to victories at the Saratoga
Invitational, NYSCTC Championship, Liberty League Championship, Ronald C.
Hoffmann Invitational and the Plattsburgh State "Cardinal Classic."
The Women's NCAA Championship race, hosted by Baldwin-Wallace College in Cleveland, OH, will begin at 11:00am on Saturday, November 21 with the men's race to follow at noon.
