The Saints won their second straight NYSCTC title on Saturday.

Oct. 24: St. Lawrence University sophomore Jenna Hulton won her first collegiate race on Saturday at the 2009 NYSCTC Championship at Genesee Valley Park in Rochester, NY.  The East Aurora, NY native's win paced the Saints to their second straight state title with an impressive 23 points.

Hulton raced the 5k course in a time of 18:02, narrowly edging junior teammate and defending champion Wendy Pavlus by four seconds.  Pavlus finished as the runner-up, while senior captain and 2009 Liberty League champion Johannah Ludington secured a 1-2-3 finish for the Saints with a time of 18:12.  The trio ensured the Saints of the state crown, while senior Hillary St. John (19:09) and junior Megan Derby (19:09) rounded out the team's scoring with 8th and 9th place finishes, respectively.

"I thought our ladies did a great job of controlling the race from the gun," said St. Lawrence head coach Mike Howard.  "Jenna (Hulton), Wendy (Pavlus) and Johannah (Ludington) are running extremely well right now and with our pack closing, it's setting our team up very well as we get set for the stretch run."

Sophomore McKayla Nuffer (12th, 19:22), senior Alexis Nuffer (17th, 19:29) and first-year student Jackie Lemme (18th, 19:30) all earned top-20 finishes in Saturday's event.  Meanwhile, rookie Andrea Maynard (40th, 20:35), junior Elizabeth Atwood (41st, 20:35), first-year student Ericka Nuffer (20:40) and junior Katrina Loignon (47th, 20:44) rounded out the team's line-up in the 2009 NYSCTC championship.

The Saints, ranked sixth in the national rankings, will be in action again next Saturday, October 31 at the 2009 Saratoga Invitational at 11:00am.
