June 22: Dan Roiger head women's basketball coach at Northland (WI) College for the last five years, has been named head women's basketball coach at St. Lawrence University.

Roiger, the 2007 and 2009 Upper Midwest Athletic Conference Coach of the Year, replaces Jennifer Kroll, who was named the head women's coach at Wellesley College in March.

"We are very pleased to announce the appointment of Dan Roiger as our head women's basketball coach," said St. Lawrence athletic director Margie Strait. "He and his teams have met with considerable success both on the court and in the classroom and we feel he will be an excellent fit here at St. Lawrence."

Roiger guided his Northland team to the conference regular season and tournament championships this past season and the 19 wins his team registered were the third most in program history. He had a 32-10 conference record in the last three seasons and the team was first or second in each of those three seasons. In addition to on-court success, his teams have been outstanding in the classroom, earning a Top 25 Academic Award from the Women's Basketball Coaches Association in 2007-08.

He became head coach at Northland in 2004 after serving as an assistant women's coach at Carleton College from 2002-04. He was assistant men's coach at Carleton from 1998-2001 and was a successful high school coach at Northfield High School, coaching basketball, softball and baseball.

A graduate of the University of Wisconsin at Madison, he earned his master's degree at Madison and also earned a BA in education from Mankato State University. A native of Wausau, WI, he also served as an assistant athletic director at Northland.

Rogier inherits a Saint program which has made three straight NCAA tournament appearances and has played in eight NCAA tournaments since 1998.
