Palmer Named National All-America Honorable Mention
Mar. 20: The Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) announced their National All-America selections on Friday for the NCAA Division III State Farm Coaches' All-America Basketball Team and St. Lawrence University senior Katie Palmer was named as an Honorable Mention.
Palmer (Bourne, MA/Falmouth Academy), who was a Regional All-America pick earlier this month, paced the Saints to their second straight conference title and their third consecutive NCAA berth with 470 points in her senior campaign, the most of any player in the Liberty League this season. She was a Liberty League First Team selection for the third time in three years and was also an All-Academic pick for her efforts in the classroom as well. Throughout the season, she received weekly conference accolades on six separate occasions and was named the MVP of the 2009 Liberty League Tournament after scoring 50 points in two games, including 38 in the championship contest, a St. Lawrence University record for most points in a single game.
The Saints completed their season over the weekend in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, where they fell to Cortland State on Friday, March 6. Palmer recorded 20 points in the contest, the 22nd time this season she recorded numbers in the double digits and the tenth time she scored 20 points or more in a game.
