Head Women's Basketball Coach

Dan Roiger was named the head women's basketball coach at St. Lawrence University in the summer of 2009 after serving as the head women’s basketball coach at Northland (WI) College five years. Roiger was a two-time winner of the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference Coach of the Year award (2007, 2009).

Roiger, in his 13th season as a college coach has guided the Saints to a second place (2009-10) and a first place (2010-11) finish in the Liberty League in his first two seasons. In those two seasons, the Saints own the best record in the Liberty League at 20-8 and are the only team to make the playoffs in both seasons. Overall, the Saints are 37-13 under Roiger, having finished 18-7 in his first year and 19-6 this past season, despite not having a senior on the team and a roster of nine freshmen. Roiger has coached five players named to the Liberty League All-Conference teams and has had 70% of his eligible players earn Academic All-Conference from the league.

Prior to St. Lawrence, Roiger was an assistant at Carleton College (MN) for five years and a head coach at Northland (WI) College for five years. Roiger was a two-time winner of the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference Coach of the Year award (2007, 2009) and led the team to four playoff appearances, a regular season title, and a conference playoff title.

A graduate of the University of Wisconsin at Madison, he earned his master's degree at Madison and also earned a BA in education from Mankato State University. Roiger also teaches within the Sports Studies and Exercise Science program and is involved in the campus community on three committees and with game management. He resides in Canton with his wife, Shelly Roiger, who is the Saints volleyball head coach, and his three boys, Joey, Sam, and Zadok.
