Saints Earn 2009 Liberty League Sportsmanship Award

Jan. 15: The St. Lawrence University volleyball team received the 2009 Liberty League Sportsmanship Award for the first time in program history. The Saints share the honor with conference opponent Union College.
The winning institutions were chosen by league members based on sportsmanship exhibited by teams, coaches, fans and staff. Teams were judged on their respect for opponents and officials, positive support for all competitors, and proper conduct on the playing field.
"All of us associated with St. Lawrence volleyball are very proud of this award," St. Lawrence Head Coach Melissa DeRan said. "My players take great pride in conducting themselves with integrity and always in an ethical manner. I am continuously proud of our players for who they are as people and this award serves to reinforce that."
Other Liberty League recipients of the Fall 2009 Sportsmanship Awards include; Rensselaer (Men's Cross-Country), Vassar College (Women's Cross-Country), William Smith College (Field Hockey), Worcester Polytechnic Institute (Football), Skidmore College (Golf), Vassar College (Men's Soccer), and Clarkson University (Women's Soccer).
