Russ Newton '12 earned the Ted Webster Memorial Award.
March 30: St. Lawrence University senior Russ Newton was named the recipient of the Ted Webster Memorial Award as announced by the Upper New York State Collegiate Swimming Association.

The Ted Webster Memorial Award recognizes one male swimmer who has demonstrated "stick-to-it-iveness", desire and determination as student-athlete. Newton, an East Lyme, CT native, is the first from the University's swimming and diving program to earn the award.

"I feel that Russ is the perfect recipient for the UNYSCSA Ted Webster Memorial Award," said Saints head coach Bob Clemmer. "After overcoming cancer following his senior year of high school, Russ was persistent and dedicated to continue his swimming career. At St. Lawrence, he got faster year-after-year, culminating in achieving school records in swimming's three toughest events. We are all very proud to have had Russ on our team and part of our lives."

A two-year captain, Newton concluded his phenomenal four-year career at St. Lawrence and owns program records in the 400 Individual Medley, and the 1000 yard and 1650 yard freestyles.
