Saints Compete at Day 1 of States; Abribat Breaks School Record

Feb. 23: The St. Lawrence University men's and women's
swimming and diving teams competed in the first day of the UNYSCSA
Championships hosted by Nazareth College. Sophomore Casey Abribat set a new University record in the 200 IM with her time of 2:13.66.
Abribat, who earned 11th place in the 200 IM finals, topped the previous record of 2:13.81 which stood for 22 years. Also highlighting the day of competition was junior Russ Newton's seventh place
finish in the 500 free finals.
Junior Andrew Hayes, senior Robert
Sibley, and sophomores Jason Dutra and Alex Root earned ninth place in the 200
medley relay. On the women's side, Abribat
joined senior Katy Kozminski and first-year students Elizabeth Canne and
Katharina Weidhausser in the 200 medley relay where they earned 10th
place in the finals.
Earlier in the day, six individuals advanced to the finals. Newton and Alex Root advanced in the 500 free, and Abribat, along with sophomore Maria Anselmi and junior Brynn Hagen advanced to the 200 IM finals. Kozminski advanced to the finals in the 50 free.
