Saints 11th After Day One of UNYSCSA Championships

Feb. 26: The St. Lawrence University Swimming and Diving Team earned 103 points after Friday's finals, to put them in 11th place after day one of the UNYSCSA Championships at Nottingham High School in Syracuse, NY.
Junior Jared Pellerin swam an impressive 500 Yard Freestyle, dropping almost a second off his preliminary time to finish 19th with a time of 4:52.24. Sophomore Russ Newton finished just behind his teammate in 20th place with a time of 4:53.13, roughly half a second faster than his preliminary time.
The St. Lawrence 200 Yard Freestyle Relay Team, made up of first-year Jason Dutra, senior Brandon Barone, junior Rob Sibley, and senior Chris Woolston, also had a successful day, earning 9th in the consolation heat with a time of 1:27.99.
The Saints ‘A' Relay Team, composed of Woolston, senior Stephen Dally, Dutra and Sibley, also fared well in the 400 Yard Medley Relay A Final, finishing 7th with a time of 3:34.16. The ‘B' Relay Team, made up of sophomore Andrew Hayes, first-year Greg Obernesser, first-year Elias Schoen and Barone, dropped three seconds off their preliminary time to finish 22nd in 3:40.11.
The Saints will resume competition Saturday, February 27th for day two of the UNYSCSA Championships.
