Saints 11th After Day One of UNYSCSA Championships

Junior Jared Pellerin finished 19th in the 500 Yard Freestyle Consolation Heat.

Feb. 26:  The St. Lawrence University Swimming and Diving Team earned 103 points after Friday's finals, to put them in 11^th place after day one of the UNYSCSA Championships at Nottingham High School in Syracuse, NY.

Junior Jared Pellerin swam an impressive 500 Yard Freestyle, dropping almost a second off his preliminary time to finish 19^th with a time of 4:52.24.  Sophomore Russ Newton finished just behind his teammate in 20^th place with a time of 4:53.13, roughly half a second faster than his preliminary time.

The St. Lawrence 200 Yard Freestyle Relay Team, made up of first-year Jason Dutra, senior Brandon Barone, junior Rob Sibley, and senior Chris Woolston, also had a successful day, earning 9^th in the consolation heat with a time of 1:27.99.

The Saints ‘A' Relay Team, composed of Woolston, senior Stephen Dally, Dutra and Sibley, also fared well in the 400 Yard Medley Relay A Final, finishing 7^th with a time of 3:34.16.  The ‘B' Relay Team, made up of sophomore Andrew Hayes, first-year Greg Obernesser, first-year Elias Schoen and Barone, dropped three seconds off their preliminary time to finish 22^nd in 3:40.11.

The Saints will resume competition Saturday, February 27^th for day two of the UNYSCSA Championships.
