Saints Look Strong with Three Top 10 Finishes on Day Two of UNYSCSA Championships

Feb. 19: The St. Lawrence University Women's Swimming and Diving team completed day two of the UNYSCSA Championships Friday night. After advancing seven swimmers and one relay team to tonight's finals, the Saints currently sit in 9th place with a score of 304.50.
The Saints ‘A' relay team consisting of Sophomore Brynn Hagen, junior Hannah Grimes, senior Abigail Lynch, and junior Katy Kozminski kicked off this evening's consolation final with a 9th place finish in the 200 Yard Medley Relay. The relay team swam over a second faster than their preliminary time posting a new time of 1:54.50
Sophomore Molly Lunn had a standout performance in the 400 Yard IM final, earning fifth place finish overall with a time of 4:41.88. The Norwell, MA native dropped another four seconds off her preliminary time from the morning earning her an overall seventeen second drop from her original seed time.
Hagen also had an impressive 100 Yard Backstroke final finishing 8th overall while still maintaining a personal best time of 1.01.92. First-year Casey Abribat also competed in this event finishing in 16th place.
Lynch and Anselmi finished back-to-back in the bonus consolation final 100 Yard Butterfly, with both swimmers dropping time off their morning swims. Lynch finished 19th with a time of 1:02.90, while Anselmi followed in 20th with a time of 1:03.14.
Kozminski also helped the Saints score points Friday, swimming to a 23rd place finish in the 200 Yard Freestyle. The New Hartford, MA native finished with a time of 2:02.31, dropping nearly three seconds off her preliminary seed time and posting a new personal best time.
Grimes also dropped time from her preliminary race, finishing the 100 Yard Backstroke roughly a second faster with a time of 1:11.43. The Hamden, CT native earned a 12th place finish.
Lastly, the Saints 800 Yard Freestyle Relay ‘A' team had a successful day, finishing in 8th for the first time in approximately three years with a time of 8:14.80. Lunn, sophomore Katie Spakowski, senior Kate Waters, and Kozminski composed the relay team.
In their first-year of collegiate diving, sophomore Chasity Barcomb and freshman Meg Powers had a great day, finishing 15th and 23rd in the 3M diving competition after the morning's preliminaries.
The Saints will resume competition tomorrow for day three of the UNYSCSA Championships.
