Woolston Earns Three Wins as Saint Men Defeat Nazareth

Senior captain Chris Woolston came back from behind to win the 200 Meter IM Saturday.

Jan. 30:  Senior captain Chris Woolston racked up three first place finishes Saturday, to help the St. Lawrence men's swimming and diving team defeat Nazareth, 135-120.  Along with his top performances, rookie Casey Abribat, and sophomores' Molly Lunn and Brynn Hagen finished the day with solid finishes for the Saint women.

Woolston's  took gold in the 100 and 200 Meter Backstrokes, as well as the 200 Meter IM.  The Madison, CT native finished the 100 Meter Backstroke Event roughly three seconds in front of Nazareth's RC Weston with a time of 1:01.25.  He also won the 200 Meter Backstroke Event by nearly eight seconds with a time of 2:11.89.  Woolston put on a show again in the 200 Meter IM, as he came back to beat Nazareth's Michael Bidwell in the freestyle leg of the race, finishing with a time of 2:19.07.  Along with three top finishes, his results were also seasonal best dual meet times for the year.

Hagen picked up solid first place finish in the 200 Meter Backstroke, winning the event with a time of 2:34.67.

Abribat ended the day with two second place finishes in the 100 and 200 Meter Backstroke Events. The Warwick, NY native finished the 100 Meter Backstroke Event with a time of 1:13.39, roughly a second behind Nazareth's first place swimmer Jaclyn Conklin and completed the 200 Meter Event in 2:34.67 behind teammate Hagen.

First-year Elias Schoen picked up first and second place finishes, with a win in the 200 Meter Butterfly and silver in the 100 Meter Butterfly.  The Keene, NH native finished the 200 Meter Event with a time of 2:19.78, roughly five seconds in front of Nazareth's Dan Walton, and finished the 100 Meter Event with a time of 1:01.83.

Lunn also had a strong meet, earning first and second place finishes.  In the 200 Meter Butterfly, the Norwell, MA native took first place with a time of 2:40.04.  She also grabbed the second spot in the 200 Meter IM behind Nazareth's Carissa Risucci with a time of 2:39.33.

The Saints will have some time off before they head on the road to compete at the New York State Championships at Nottingham High School in Syracuse, NY.  Competition is set to begin on Thursday, February 18th.   The time has yet to be determined.
