2012-13: The second leading scorer for the men's team with 151.25 points, Alex had three first, six second and five thirds in addition to scoring on relays in his senior season. He swam every freestyle race from the 50 to the 1650  and added a career best time in the 50 free.

2011-12:  Root posted some of his best times of the season at the Liberty League championships, including a ninth place finish in the 1650 free.  A mathematics and computer science major, he earned Academic All-Conference honors for his efforts in the classroom.  The Denver, CO native was named to the Dean's List in the fall. 

2010-11:  Root participated in several events for the Saints, including the 200 free, 50 back, 100 back and 200 back.  He was also part of a successful relay team which placed 8th in the  400 medley relay at the UNYSCSA Championships. The Denver, CO native landed a spot on the UNYSCSA Academic team, as well as the Liberty League All-Academic team for his efforts in the classroom.  Root is a math and computer science major.   

2009-10: Alex had a stand-out rookie season as a distance freestyler, earning personal best times in the 200 Yard Free, the 500 Yard Free, and the 1650 Yard Free.  The Denver, CO native swam impressively at the 2009 Liberty League Championships, finishing 14th in the 200 Yard Free and 6th in the 1650 Yard Free.  He also helped the Saints B relay team finish 13th in the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay.  Alex continued on to take 20th in the 1650 Yard Free at the UNYSCSA Championships.

At Overland
Alex was a two-sport athlete, competing in swimming and cross-country.  He was the captain of his swim team.  Along with his participation in athletics, Alex received the Overland Math Award and was an AP Scholar with distinction.
