Feb. 15:  The St. Lawrence University softball team was picked third in the 2013 Liberty League pre-season coaches' poll with 15 points.  Rensselaer, the 2012 regular-season champion, and Rochester, the tournament champion, were tied atop the poll with 23 points and three first place votes apiece.

St. Lawrence was 4-6 in the regular season against conference opponents last season and finished the year 20-13, tying the 2001 team for the most wins in program history.  The Saints return a core group of veterans and will be led by new Head Coach Elisa Van Kirk.

Meanwhile, the Engineers posted a 9-1 conference record in 2012, losing only to Rochester in the second game of a late April doubleheader, and finished 27-14 overall.  Rochester is coming off their Liberty League tournament championship as well as an NCAA tournament appearance after earning one of 20 at-large bids.   The Yellowjackets finished the season with an 8-2 league record and were 29-15 overall.
