    Entering her 12th season as Saint field hockey coach, Fran Grembowicz has established the Saints among the region's top programs, tying the SLU record with 14 wins en route both the New York State Women's Collegiate Athletic Association tournament title and the ECAC Mid-Atlantic field hockey championship in 2000 and leading her team to the NCAA regional final in 2001.Her 2006 and 2008 teams were Liberty League regular-season co-champions and the 2008 team hosted the league tournament.

    Her teams have been .500 or better for the last nine seasons and have a 106-50-0 record in that span. Her career record at SLU is 121-68-0 in field hockey.

    Her teams made three straight post-season appearancesfrom 2000-2002 and her team won its second ECAC Mid-Atlantic Championship in three years in '02. The Saints were Liberty League tournament finalists in 2004, 2006 and 2007. She was conference Coach of the Year in 2001 and shared that honor in 2008 and was one of the coaches for the North team in the North-South Senior All Star game in 2004.

    Also the coach of the Saint softball program, one she built from the ground up, and her team was 2000 conference champion and 2001 conference runner-up. She began her Saint coaching career as women's basketball coach, and laid the foundation for a program which emerged as one of the top small college programs in the East.

    Former captain and starting catcher for the St. Lawrence University softball team, Melissa Pittelli returned to her alma mater as an assistant coach for the 2008 season.

    Pittelli graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Psychology in the spring of 2007. She was a dual-sport athlete at St. Lawrence, playing both softball and field hockey. The Corinth, NY native served as captain for each squad in both her junior and senior seasons, and was named an Regional All-American for field hockey in both 2005 and 2006.

    In the summer of 2007, Pittelli served as a camp counselor for mentally and physically disabled adults. Prior to that, she worked at field hockey and softball camps at Corinth High School. Pittelli also served as a local facilitator, helping to strengthen University and community relationships.
