Saints Host 2nd Annual Athletics Golf Event

The St. Lawrence Athletic Department hosted the Second Annual Saints Athletics Golf Tournament on January 3, 2011 at the St. Lawrence Golf Club in Canton, NY.
"This event continues to grow after two successful years," said Margie Strait, Director of Intercollegiate Athletics and Recreation. "The support and generosity we've received from alumni and friends, as well as from businesses both near and far, have made this a highlight event."
Twenty-one teams comprised the field in the four-player captain and crew event in the second annual edition of the tournament on June 3, 2011. University President Bill Fox was on hand to greet the golfers last year, while lunch was provided at the turn. Hole-in-one prizes including a new Club Car utility vehicle, an iPad 2 and a new set of TaylorMade irons were at stake on the par-3's.
Following the event, a reception with hors d'oeuvres, an awards ceremony and a silent auction with items donated from prominent sponsors was held in the club house. Home Town Golf Inc. as well as Victory Promotions continued to be major patrons while over 30 sponsors contributed to the event at a variety of levels. Coaches of many of the athletic programs were on hand to meet-and-greet alumni and participants.
The St. Lawrence Athletic Department will host the Third Annual Saints Athletics Golf Tournament on Friday, June 1, 2012 with a 10:00am shotgun start. The tournament, which will be held at the St. Lawrence University Golf Course, will once again be in conjunction with "Reunion Weekend" and serves as a fundraiser to support the department's yearly initiatives.
