Saints, Cazenovia Tie, SLU Has Lead at Break in Competition

St. Lawrence University's riding team held ground in the race for the regional high point team honors on Sunday as it tied with host and second place Cazenovia in the final Intercollegiate Horse Show Association of the fall portion of the schedule.
The Saints and Cazenovia each finished with 42 points with Potsdam third with 33 and the Saints, who won four consecutive shows prior to Sunday's tie, take a double-digit lead into the break. Competition will resume with shows at Cazenovia and SLU on Feb. 25-26.
Abby Cook, Grace Segrave, Casey Zuraitis, Brooke Taylor and Anna Haron all had event wins in the team competition for the Saints on Sunday.
Cook won in open over fences and was third in open on the flat while Zuraitis won the team class in intermediate on the flat and was second in open over fences. Segrave was first in novice fences, Taylor was first in novice on the flat and also won a class of intermediate over fences and Haron won in advanced walk-trot-canter.
Other winners for the Saints on Sunday included Jamie Tempesta and Emily D'Alessandro in intermediate on the flat. Katherine Buccelli was third in novice fences, Taylor Moon was second in novice on the flat, Lauryn Tannenhaus was third in intermediate fences, Sheila Murray was third in advanced walk-trot-canter and William Willsea took second in walk-trot.
