Saints Second, Fourth in Weekend Horse Shows

Laura Brown won her class of intermediate on the flat in both weekend shows

Jordan Koivu earned High Point Rider honors in Saturday's home show at the Elsa Gunnison Appleton Riding Hall and is one of six St. Lawrence riders to have qualified for the regional championships.

The Saint team was second to Cazenovia in Saturday's show and were fourth at Cazenovia in the final show of the fall season.

Koivu won her class of novice on the flat on Saturday and won in open over fences at Cazenovia on Sunday. Other winners in the St. Lawrence show included Laura Brown, who won her class of intermediate equitation on the flat, Taylor Moon and Taylor Clark each won in novice on the flat and Jenna Gunnell won in walk-trot equitation.

On Sunday, Brown and Violet Bacha won their classes of intermediate equitation on the flat, Clark won in novice on the flat, Kathryn Buccelli won walk-trot-canter and Amber Latza won in beginner walk-trot-canter.

Those qualified for the regionals, which the team will host in March, include Abby Cook in intermediate flat and open fences, Koivu in novice flat and open fences, Brown in novice fences, Hadley Deming in intermediate fences, Buccell in walk-trot-canter and Latza in walk-trot.

The Saints will return to action at Cazenovia in late February.
