Lustgarten Wins Sprint Race at 2012 Jr. Nationals

Mar. 7: St. Lawrence University sophomore Eric Lustgarten won the sprint race earlier this week at the 2012 United States Jr. Nationals at Soldier Hollow, the 2002 Olympic venue, in Midway, UT.
Lustgarten, who had a solid collegiate season this winter, won the Junior Age 18-19 division with a time of 2:52.8 ahead of Austin Cobb.
"This is a great way for Eric to start the week, and I'm excited to have him and Austin (Meng) at these championships representing St. Lawrence skiing," said Saints head coach Ethan Townsend. "I am very proud to have both of them on the team."
Meanwhile, Meng qualified for the heats but did not advance to finals, landing in 19th place overall.
St. Lawrence University senior Nordic skier Caroline Carpenter begins competing at the 2012 NCAA Championships in Bozeman, MT today in the freestyle race. Each day of races will be webcast live at http://www.ncaa.com/liveschedule.
