Roberts Outstanding Track Performer, Saints 3rd at Liberty League

Senior Jarell Roberts was named the outstanding track performer of the meet on Saturday, running his total of Liberty League individual titles to six and added a third relay title as St. Lawrence University's men's track and field team finished third in the 2012 Liberty League Championships at RPI on Saturday.
RPI won the meet with 235 points with RIT second with 185, SLU third with 103, Vassar fourth with 51, Union fifth with 35 and Bard sixth with 11.
Roberts completed a sweep of the Liberty League sprint titles for the year, winning the 100 in 10.68 seconds and the 200 in 22.02. He also won the 60 and 200 during the indoor season. He ran the second leg on the 4x100 relay team, joining Adrian Wilson, Omaru Kabia and Jamal Samaroo to win in 42.92 and joined James May, Wilson and Adam McNichol on the fifth place 4x400 relay team.He was named both Liberty League and NYSCTC Athlete of the Week for his performances.
Jake Fredericks had the other Saint individual championship as he won the 110 high hurdles in a Liberty League and SLU record 14.76 seconds. Fredericks added a third place finish in 57.07 in the 400 hurdles.
Samaroo was second in the triple jump with a 15.17 meter series and finished third in the long jump at 6.79 meters while Alex Calderwood was third in the 10,000 in 33:11.75 and Jon Eng was third in 9:53.26 in the steeplechase.
Thrower AJ Blaisdell was fourth in the hammer at 46.22 meters and sixth in the discus while Josh Martell was fifth in the javelin. Brian Kane was fifth and Mike Scott sixth in the high jump, James May was fourth in the 400, Tom Metzger sixth in the 800, Spencer Fausel sixth in the 1500 and Seth Jackson scored with a fifth in the 10,000 and was sixth in the 5000. Chris Payton was fifth in the 400 hurdles and sixth in the long jump while Aaron Tompkins added a fifth in the steeplechase and Tim Liponis was sixth in the 10,000.
