Ramsey, Johnston, 4x800 Team Win NYSCTC Titles

John Johnston closes in on RIT's Jared Burdick en route to a win in the 10,000

St. Lawrence University's men's track and field team had two individual championships and a relay title at the 2010 New York State Collegiate Track Conference Championships at Rensselaer as junior Dan Ramsey won the 5000 meters and sophomore John Johnston won the 10,000 meters and the Saints won the 4x800 relay title.

St. Lawrence finished fifth as a team in the nine-team meet which was won by Ithaca College, sweeping both the men's and women's titles. RPI was second, RIT third, and Rochester fourth in the men's meet.

Ramsey ran 15:11.46 to win the 5000 on Saturday, while Johnston won Friday evening's 10K in 31:49.60 with teammate Seth Jackson finishing fifth. Johnston came back on Saturday to add a fifth place finish in the 5000 in 15:30.01 with Tim Liponis finishing seventh in the same race.

The 4x800 relay team of Geoff Millard, Michael Fox, Josh LeBlanc and Chris Funch won in 7:44.50 for the other Saint event title.

Andy Fisher finished third in the 100 meters win 11.29 seconds with teammate Brad Williams running the same time and awarded fourth on judgment. Jeremy Beaudette added a third in the 3000 steeplechase in 9:37.45, Michael Fox was third in the 800 in 1:57.27 with Funch finishing fifth and Josh LeBlanc finished seventh in the 1500 in 4:02.25.

Justin Spalik scored in the 110 hurdles with an eighth place finish, Chris Pugliano finished 7th in the 400 and the Saints scored in both the 4x100 and 4x400 relays. The 4x100 team of Williams, Fisher, Leif Frymire and Jarell Roberts was third in 43.78 seconds while the 4x400 team of Frymire, Pugliano, Nick Mello and Williams was sixth in 3:24.37.

Mike Scott had a third in the high jump at 1.88 meters to highlight the Saint field event performances. Sean Scott was fourth in the triple jump at 13.10 meters with Spalik fourth in the long jump at 6.48 meters. Austin Carpenter finished sixth in the javelin with a throw of 47.86 meters  and Jesse Clark scored with a seventh in the shot put, throwing 13.07 meters.
