Saints Earn NSCAA Team Academic Awards

Dec. 6:  The St. Lawrence University soccer teams were honored by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America for their outstanding performances in the classroom.  Both the men's and the women's team earned Team Academic Awards for posting combined GPA's of 3.0 or higher in the last full academic year. 

The women's team earned a GPA of 3.26 in the 2011-12 academic year.  Twelve members of the squad had a cumulative average of 3.2 or higher after completing two full semesters at St. Lawrence, including seniors Stephanie Sayward, Emily Marvin and Brooke Hessney, juniors Julia Friesen, Corinne Werner, Erika Gobielle, Liz Laprade and Andrea Strauss, and sophomores Meagan Gadzuk-Shea, Nyssa LaClair, Meg Ryan and Laura Topf. 

Meanwhile, the men's team earned a 3.13 GPA last year, and five Saints had a cumulative average of at least 3.2, including senior Brian Gilloran, juniors Juan Chang and Pete Walsh, and sophomores Mark Provost and Austin Roney.
