2011 Awards Banquet Summary

This year's award ceremony was a very special event. A large number of alumni attended as they often do. It was an extremely memorable occasion based on the inspirational speeches given by Franco Bari ‘98, Ryan Carruth '01, and James Stewart '11. Mani Beckford '01

Franco discussed the recent passing of the famous Weil Coerver, the man that analyzed the greatest soccer players on earth and studied their 1 v 1 skills. Coerver Coaching has helped thousands of young soccer players around the world to develop skills like professionals such as Maradona, Zico, Cruyff, and many others. He will be missed by all.

Carruth and Stewart talked about the importance of appreciating the experience of being a part of the St. Lawrence Men's Soccer Program. Their messages helped all in attendance to understand what a great honor it is to be a part of this team.

Beckford, an unbelievable speaker, stole the hearts and minds of us all. His speech was specifically about the participation of Emmanuel Mbong '10 and James Stewart '11 during this past 2010 season. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YU_iB_5VMd0 Their presence and abilities were a more than substantial part of the team's success this year. Beckford affirmed that Saints Soccer is has broken back into the national spotlight and that we all need to work hard to maintain and even build upon this year's results.
