2012: The Liberty League Runner of the Year and a seven-time Liberty League Runner of the Week as a senior, Sam recorded his first collegiate victory with a win in the NYSCTC Championship and followed that up with the individual title in the Liberty League Championships. He had five top ten finishes including a second at Plattsburgh, fourth in the Hoffmann Invitational and sixth in the NCAA Atlantic Regional and was the top Saint scorer in every race. He improved his best NCAA finish by five spots, leading the Saints with an 80th place finish, scoring 59th.

2011:
Rakoc had a breakout junior season, as he improved his career-best time by over 20 seconds and nearly all of his career championship finishes.  Sam's 7th place showing in the Atlantic Regional race propelled St. Lawrence to the regional title and the NCAA Championships.  He also earned both All-Conference and All-State honors. He is an Admissions Ambassador and a desk assistant for the Student Center Information Desk.


2010:
Rakoc became a consistent contributor for St. Lawrence in his sophomore season, as he had career-best showings in the league, state, regional and national championships.  Sam improved his career-best time by a full minute to 25:35, good for seventh place at the NYSCTC Championship.  He also added a fifth place finish at the Liberty League race.

2009:
Rakoc made an immediate impact with the Saints in his first season, as he posted five top-25 finishes en route to the 2009 Liberty League Co-Rookie of the Year award.  Sam was 12th overall at the conference championship meet and followed with a solid 21st place showing at the state event the following week.  A math and environmental studies double-major, Sam was named the squad's Ronald C. Hoffman Rookie of the Year. 

At Swampscott

Rakoc was a three-sport athlete, participating in Cross Country, Hockey and Track and Field. The Swampscott, MA native was a three-time Boston Globe All-Star for cross country and was named the Northeast Conference's 2008 Runner of the Year. Rakoc was also a Division II All-State Champion for XC in 2006.
