June 11: The Liberty League has announced its annual award winners for men's crew, and St. Lawrence University's Novice 8 won the Novice 8 Crew of the Year Award for 2012.

It is the second time in four years that the Saints have won the Novice 8 honor, as they earned the award in 2009 for the first time.  The 2012 Novice 8 won the Liberty League Championship and finished second in the New York State Championships to Marist.

"This is a great group of guys who trained hard and were good teammates to each other," said St. Lawrence head men's crew coach George Repicky.  "I think they will provide a good foundation of our program's future success."

The St. Lawrence Novice 8 was comprised of Mitch Joseph, Mason Vogt, Kyle Benzing, Ted Marr, Matt Farina, Gordon Clarke, Tommy Joyce, Talon Lomahquahu and Drew Twitchell.

The Varsity 8 Crew of the Year award went to Hobart College, while Tom White and his staff at Union earned Coaching Staff of the Year honors.
