Three Reach Double-Figures as Saints Upset Hobart, 65-62

Feb. 3: Three Saints scored in double-figures as the St. Lawrence University men's basketball team upset Liberty League front-runner Hobart, 65-62, on Friday night in the Burkman Gymnasium.

The Saints improved to 12-8, 8-4, and were led by senior co-captain Ralph Temgoua's 19 points, six rebounds and four assists, while classmate and fellow co-captain Garrett Sharlow added 16 points, six rebounds and two assists. Senior Terry Parham chipped in 14 points, five rebounds and four assists.

After Hobart used an 11-3 run in the opening half to build its largest lead of the game, St. Lawrence surged back with a 19-4 run to reclaim the lead. Temgoua's layup at 2:51 capped the run, giving the home team a 28-22 advantage. Two minutes later, a 3-pointer by Statesman Stefan Thompson knotted the game back up at 30-30, but Temgoua gave the Saints a 2-point lead at the intermission with a buzzer-beating jumper.

The second half was a tightly contested battle, as the game featured seven lead changes and eight ties. Neither team led by more than two possessions until the Saints scored seven unanswered points over a three minute stretch to take the lead for good. Though Hobart cut the lead to 59-58 with 3:38 remaining, St. Lawrence held out for the 65-62 upset

The Saints enter tomorrow's game against RIT with momentum, riding victories over Hobart and Clarkson.
