Jan. 25:  Despite a second-half comeback, the St. Lawrence University men's basketball team fell to Clarkson University, 63-55, in a Liberty League match-up on Tuesday night in the Burkman Gymnasium.

The Saints drop to 7-8 overall with a 3-2 mark in league play, while the Golden Knights improve to 10-6 overall and 2-3 in the conference.

Junior captain Garrett Sharlow had a double-double for the Saints with 11 points and 11 rebounds.  Jon Goldberg, Ralph Temgoua and Nick Meunier each added 10 points apiece.

Both St. Lawrence and Clarkson were very cold offensively in the first portion of the game as the score was still in single digits midway through the first half.   The Golden Knights picked up the pace as the home team was still in a shooting slump to close out the first stanza with an 11-point advantage, 27-16.

Clarkson improved its lead to 14 points at the start of the second half, but St. Lawrence slowly chipped away, and tied the game on several occasions late in the half. However, each time the home team tied the score, the Knights would respond with a 3-point field goal to reclaim the lead.

With less than four minutes to go, Clarkson hit back-to-back three pointers to make it a two-possession contest and then made eight free throws down the stretch to hold off the Scarlet and Brown.

The Saints will look to rebound against Hobart on Friday, January 28th.  Tip-off is scheduled for 8:00pm.
