Four Individual Titles, Relay Crown for Saints at Hamilton

St. Lawrence University's men's indoor track team had a quartet of individual champions at the 2012 Hamilton College Indoor Invitational on Saturday.

Senior Jack Knych won the 1000 in 2:35.42 and was third in the mile, running 4:25.84, senior sprinter Jarell Roberts won the 200 in 22.94 and was third in the 60 in 7.13, Andy Fisher won the 400 in 52.41 and AJ Blaisdell took first in the 15 pound weight with a throw of 15.71 for the Saint titles in the non-scoring meet.

The Saints also won the 4x200 relay with a team of Fisher, Omaru Kabia, Jamal Samaroo and Roberts running 1:31.86.

Taylor Macci was second with a 4.10 meter vault in the pole vault with James May placing fourth on attempts after clearing the same height. Brian Kane was third in the triple jump at 12.34 meters with Jake Fredericks fourth and Chris Payton sixth and Kane also finished third in the high jump with a 1.90 meter jump with Mike Scott sixth and Justin Spalik eighth. Adrian Wilson was sixth and Jamal Samaroo finished eighth in the long jump.

Other top finishes on the track for the Saints included a fourth by Spalik with Fredericks fifth in the 60 hurdles, a fourth by Tim Liponis in the 5000 meters, a fourth by Adam McNichol in the 500 in 1:09.79. Tom Metzger was third in 2:03.79 and Jon Eng fifth in the 800 and Zach Nelson was third in 9:07.78 with Brendan Courneene fourth, Aaron Tompkins fifth and Alex Calderwood sixth in the 3000. Scott Smolensky was fourth, Spencer Fausel fifth, Andrew Goodwin sixth and Corey Hahnl seventh in the mile.

The Saint 4x400 relay team of Spalik, Adrian Wilson, Fredericks and McNichol finished second by .2 to Rochester, running 3:37.92.

The Saints will host the Liberty League Indoor Championships at the Newell Field House in their next meet on Feb. 11.
