Jones Shatters SLU Record in Weight Throw at ECAC Championships

Eric Jones won the ECAC Championship in the weight throw for the third consecutive year, shattering records in the process as St. Lawrence University's men's indoor track and field team finished 9th in a field of 48 at the 2010 ECAC Indoor Championships held at Smith College.
Jones threw 19.31 meters in Saturday's championship (63-4.25), setting a meet record and improving his own SLU record by .37 meter. It stands as the second best throw in the nation this season and the Saint senior will compete in the NCAA championships next weekend.
Other scoring finishes on Saturday included a fourth in the 4x800 relay in 7:56.60, a seventh by Andrew Goodwin in the mile in 4:21.97, an eighth place finish in the 1000 meter by Terrence Fox in 2:34.24 and a seventh in the 3000 by Jeremy Beaudette in 8:45.33.
Chris Funch finished 10th in the 1000 and Seth Jackson followed a strong showing in the 5000 on Friday with a ninth in the 3000 Saturday.Michael Fox finished 15th in the 1000.
