Ramsey, Fox, Jones Star at Cornell's Denault Invitational, Spalik Third in Multi-event

Terrance Fox anchored the Saint 4x800 relay win at Cornell

St. Lawrence junior Dan Ramsey won the 3000 meters and seniors Eric Jones and Terrance Fox had big days as the Saint men's indoor track and field team participated in the Marc Denault Invitational at Cornell's Barton Hall on Saturday. Sophomore Justin Spalik finished third in the NYSCTC multi-event championships contested at Cornell on Sunday

Ramsey ran 8:29.00 to win the 3000, leading a field of 56 runners. Jones finished second in the weight throw with a throw of 18.46 meters, (60-6.75) which surpassed NCAA automatic qualification and is just short of his best throw this season while Fox was third in the 1000 and anchored the winning 4x800 relay team.

Fox ran 2:30.89 in the 1000 meters, leading a solid contingent of Saints which included Andrew Goodwin in sixth, Geoff Millard in eighth and Chris Funch in ninth. Michael Fox joined his older brother, Funch and Goodwin on the winning 4x800 relay team which ran 8:01.84.

Other top ten finishes for Saint men included a fifth place finish in the mile by Jeremy Beaudette in 4:27.81, an eighth place in the 800 by Michael Fox in 1:59.55, a fourth place finish in the 4x400 relay by a team of Brenton Jones, Jacob Fredericks, Sean Scott and Nick Mello in 3:37.79, a seventh in the high jump by Mike Scott, a seven in the pole vault by Brad Williams and a third in the triple jump with a 12.56 meter series by Sean Scott.

Mello finished 10th in the 500 meters and Josh LeBlanc was 10th in the 3000 meters.

Saint sophomore Justin Spalik finished third in the New York State Collegiate Track Conference pentathlon championship at Barton Hall at Cornell on Sunday.

Spalik totaled 3158 points and trailed only Rochester's Will McMunigal and RPI's Garrett Harms in a 13-athelte field.  Spalik won the 55 hurdles competition in 8.03 seconds, earning 825 points. Performances in the five events in the pentathlon earn points based on distance or time to determine the overall event winner. Spalik tied for third with a long jump of 6.01 meters, earning 552 points and earned 744 points in the 1000 with a time of 2:52.11. He threw the shot 9.37 meters, worth 448 points, and high jumped 1.71 meters, worth 552 points.

Spalik earned six points toward the team title in the NYSCTC Championship which will be contested at RIT Feb. 26-27
