Distance Runners Shine at Ottawa Dome Series

Dan Ramsey won the 3000 in Ottawa on Saturday

                Senior Terrance Fox won the 1500 meters, junior Dan Ramsey the 3000 meters and Eric Jones, Sean Scott and Mike Scott were winners in field events as the St. Lawrence men's track and field team opened the 2010 portion of its indoor season at the Ottawa Superdome Saturday Series.

                The meet included top Canadian club program and collegiate athletes as well as the Saints and was run under a unique format in that all races over 60 meters were run as combined events with both men and women in the same race.

                Fox led a strong Saint showing in the 1500, winning in 4:01.83 with Andrew Goodwin second in 4:02.42 and Geoff Millard finishing fifth. The Saints also dominated the 3000 with Ramsey winning in 8:40.03 with Seth Jackson second, John Johnston third and Jeremy Beaudette fourth. Ten Saints finished in the top 16 in that event.

                Sean Scott won the triple jump with a 12.38 meter mark while Jones won the weight throw with a 16.41 meter throw. Mike Scott won the high jump with a 1.81 meter jump.

                Brad Williams was second in the pole vault at 4.01 meters and Justin Spalik was third in the 60 hurdles in 8.79 and was third with Sean Scott fourth in the long jump while Andy Dylan Spicer finished fourth in the 60 hurdles. Andy Fisher was fifth in the 150 meters and Chris Pugliano was eighth and Michael Fox ninth in the 600 meters.

                The 4x200 relay team of Sean Scott, Nick Mello, Williams and Fisher was third in 1:33.46 while the 4x400 team of Pugliano, Leif Frymire, Will Mosenthal and Spalik was second in 3:34.78. A second Saint team of Michael Fox, Beaudette, Josh LeBlanc and Terrance Fox finished third in 3:35.28.

                The Saints will host the St. Lawrence Indoor Invitational on Jan. 23.
