2010-11: Pete played in 29 games for the Saints as a junior and had five goals and three assists for eight points. Two of his five goals came on the power play and three of the five were the first goal in the game. He scored the game's first goal and the game winner in a 6-0 win at Michigan Tech.
2009-10: Pete earned a regular spot in the Saint lineup in his first full season of varsity competition and finished the year with six goals and 11 assists for 17 points in 33 games. He became the first Saint defenseman since the 1960s to score a hat trick in a game when he put up three against Sacred Heart, earning ECAC Rookie of the Week honors. He scored his first collegiate points with two assists against Army and his first collegiate goal came as part of the hat trick against Sacred Heart. He missed nine games due to injury, but returned in late February and had a solid playoff series.
2008-09: Pete Child's only action as a rookie came in an
exhibition game against Guelph. With graduation taking four regulars
out of the Saint defensive lineup, he will be a candidate for much more
extensive ice time as a sophomore.
Pre-SLU: A walk-on candidate who will press for regular time on the Saint blue line, Peter Child had 27 points in 29 games for the Green Mountain Glades. He was a member of the EJHL All Star team and also earned All League honors at St. Paul's School and was team captain.
Personal:
The son of Ted and Dina Child, Peter's dad and
his brother Tom both played hockey at the University of Vermont and
another brother, Kevin, played at Williams. He was a three-sport
captain at st. Paul's School and played soccer and lacrosse in addition
to hockey.
