April 21: St. Lawrence University's men's golf team finished fourth in a nine-team field in the Hamilton Spring Invitational at the Skenandoa Club in Clinton on Tuesday.

The Saints had a best-of-four team score of 324 on the 6,563 yard par 72 course and were led by freshman Ren O'Connor who shot 79 and was tied for 11th in the 57-player field. SUNY Delhi won the event with a score of 304 with Hamilton scored with 305 and Rensselaer third at 311. Oswego was fifth with 340.

L.B. Haney tied for 14th with a round of 890 while Doug Weaver, playing as an individual, shot 81 and was tied for 19th. David Bushing was tied for 21st with a round of 82, Pete Harriman tied for 24th with non-scoring teammate Joe Millett as both shot 83 and Adrian Bouthot completed the Saint scoring with a 86 which tied for 27th.

The Saints will conclude the spring season at Oswego Saturday and Sunday.

O'Connor Is Top Saint Golfer at Palomountain

April 14: St. Lawrence University's men's golf team finished 11th in a 14 team field at the Palamountain Invitational hosted by Skidmore College on Sunday and Monday.

The Saints shot scores of 348 and 349 for a 697 total. Host Skidmore, ranked third nationally, won the event with back-to-back rounds of 311 for a 622 total, 16 strokes better than second place Hamilton. Skidmore's "Gold" team was third with Middlebury fourth and NYU fifth.

Rookie Ren O'Connor was the top Saint golfer, finishing in a tie for 29th with rounds of 82 and 85 and a 167 total. LB Haney was tied for 33rd with rounds of 86 and 82 for 168, David Bushing was tied for 62nd with rounds of 96 and 86 for a 182 total while Adrian Bouthot tied for 64th with rounds of 87 and 96 for a 183 total. Andrew Krieger was the fifth Saint golfer with rounds of 93 and 103 for a 196 total.

Saints Third at Manhattanville

Ren O'Connor led the Saints at the Manhattanville Invitational

Oct. 12: Saint rookie Ren O'Connor shot his fourth and fifth rounds in the 70s in the last three tournaments and finished fourth overall in the 60-player field at the Manhattanville/NYU Fall Invitational on the Hudson Hills Golf Course as the Saint men's golf team concluded its fall season with a third place finish.

O'Connor opened the tournament with a 77 on the par-71 course and came back on Sunday with a 74 to finish at 151. SUNY-Delhi's Derek Walbridge shot 143 with rounds of 77 and 66 to win the individual title in the tournament.

Delhi shot a team total of 611 with NYU second at 612 and the Saints third at 617 in a 10-team field. Hamilton was fourth at 619 followed by RPI, Manhattanville, St. Peter's, Johnson and Wales, UMass-Dartmouth and Stevens Tech.

Ben von Reyn was the second saint finisher in the final fall event with rounds of 75 and 78 for a 153 total, tied for 7th overall, while L.B. Haney was two strokes back with rounds of 80 and 75 for a 155 total which tied for 12th. David Bushing shot 77 and 83 for a 160 total and was the fourth Saint finisher in the field. Andrew Krieger shot 88-81 for a 169 total while Pete Harriman bounced back from a tough 101 on Saturday with a solid 81 on Sunday to finish with a 182 total.

O'Connor Leads Saints at Hamilton

Oct. 5: Freshman Ren O'Connor matched the low round of the season and tied for the second best round of the tournament at the Hamilton Invitational with a 71 on Sunday as the Saint golf team finished tied for12th in a highly competitive 15-team field.

Seven teams were bunched within eight strokes from seventh through the tie for 12th. Skidmore was an easy winner with a 585 total with Salem State second at 613 and Middlebury third at 617. The Saints had a total of 637.

O'Connor shot 82 on Saturday, but came back with his best collegiate round on Sunday, shooting one of three rounds of 71 in the tournament. Skidmore's Matt Canavan shot a 69 on Sunday for the low round of the tourney. O'Connor finished tied for 16th with his 153 total.

Ben von Reyn shot rounds of 84 and 75 and tied for 41st at 159 along with freshman David Bushing, who followed an 82 with a 77. Pete Harriman shot back-to-back rounds of 83 for a 166 total and tied for 54th while Andrew Kreiger shot 91-77 and L.B. Haney shot back-to-back 84s to tie for 71st with 168 totals.

The Saints conclude the fall season at Manhattanville Saturday and Sunday.

O'Connor Is Liberty League Rookie of the Year, Saints 4th at Tournament

St. Lawrence University's men's golf team had three All Liberty League golfers and freshman Ren O'Connor shared Rookie of the Year honors, but the Saints had to settle for a fourth place finish in the six-team Liberty League Championships at the Saratoga Spa State Park course Saturday and Sunday.

Junior Ben Von Reyn shot an even par total of 144, going 71-73 to finish tied for fourth while L.B. Haney shot one over 73 on Saturday and came back with an even par 72 on Sunday to finish tied for sixth at 145 to earn all league honors. O'Connor shot 76-73 for a 149 total and tied for ninth, sharing the low freshman total with RPI's Matt Lussier to earn co-Rookie of the Year honors.

Pete Harriman was the fourth Saint golfer in the field, shooting two rounds of 77 for a 154 total and a tie for 24th while freshman David Bushing shot 78-79-157 and was 30th.

Skidmore won its second straight league championship with rounds of 282 and 290 for a four-under 572 team total, counting the best four of five scores each day. Rochester was 17 strokes back at 489 with Clarkson third at 591 and the Saints fourth at 592. RPI was fifth with a 610 total and Hobart finished sixth at 631.

Saints Third at Williams Invitational

Sept. 22: All four St. Lawrence scorers finished in the top 20 as St. Lawrence University's men's golf team finished third in the 20-team Williams Invitational on Sunday.

The Saints finished with a team total of 598 strokes, counting the four best scores in each of two days of competition on the 6489-year, par-71 Taconic Golf Course at Williams. Skidmore and Middlebury tied for first with 596 totals with Skidmore winning a playoff for the team title.

SLU shot one of the best team rounds in program history with a 297 in round one of the tournament, tying Skidmore for the first day lead. Rookie David Bushing led the way with a 72 while L.B. Haney and Ben Von Reyn each shot 73 with Pete Harriman rounding out the Saint top four with a 79.

All five Saint players were in the 70s on Sunday with Harriman shooting the low round with a 72. Bushing shot 76 for a 148 total and was tied for ninth in the 108-player field while Haney also had a 76 on Sunday and was one stroke back with a 149 total and tied for 13th. Von Reyn shot 77 on Sunday to finish at 150, 18th overall and Harriman's 72 gave him a 151 total, tied for 19th in the field. Joe Millett followed up a Saturday 85 with a 77 on Sunday to finish at 162, 73rd overall.

Bushing and Harriman each shot their low collegiate round in the tournament with their one-over 72s while Haney matched his collegiate low with his 73 on Saturday.

The Saints will return to action at the Liberty League Championships in Saratoga on Sept. 28 and 29.

Von Reyn Leads Saints at Middlebury

Sept. 14: Ben von Reyn was the only Saint player to shoot in the 70s each day, following up a first-round 74 with a 77 on Sunday on the tough Ralph Myre Golf Course at Middlebury College to finish with a 151 total at the Duke Nelson Invitational.

The Saint team finished tied for 12th in a 22-team field with a four-man total of 634. Skidmore won the tournament with a two-day total of 593 with NYU and Trinity tied for second at 606.

All of the Saint counting scorers were in the 70s on Saturday as von Reyn led the way with a 74, L.B. Haney shot 78 and rookies David Bushing and Adrian Bouthot each shot 79. Bushing and Bouthot shot 82 on Sunday to finish at 161 and Haney shot an 83, also finishing with a 161 total. Pete Harriman was the fifth Saint golfer in the tournament and shot rounds of 82 and 90 for a 172 total.

The Saints will return to action at Williams Saturday and Sunday.

Saints Finish 5th in SLU Invitational

Sept. 7: St. Lawrence University's men's golf team finished fifth overall and third among US teams in the ninth annual St. Lawrence University Collegiate Invitational at the St. Lawrence University Golf Course on Sunday.

The Saints had a best four player score of 303 on Saturday and posted a 310 on Sunday to finish with a 613 total, three strokes behind New York University, which shot matching rounds of 305. Hamilton College had rounds of 305 and 300 and was the top NCAA team in the 14-team field with a 605 total. The University of Waterloo shot rounds of 295 and 296 for a 591 total and was the overall tournament champion with Ottawa, which shot 301 and 302, second at 603.

Brandon Christo of Elmira was the overall individual champion with rounds of 70 and 75 for a one-over par 145 total to lead a 73-golfer field. Garrett Rank of Waterloo, younger brother of former Saint All America golfer and men's hockey standout Kyle Rank, tied for second with rounds of 74 and 73.

Junior Ben Von Reyn was the top Saint finished in seventh with rounds of 72 and 77 for a five-over total on the 6673-yard, par 72 St. Lawrence course. L.B. Haney finished tied for 13th with rounds of 75 and 78 for a 153 total with rookie David Bushing shooting 76 and 77 to also finish at 153. Rookie Ren O'Connor was the fourth Saint scorer with back-to-back rounds of 80 for a 160 total while Dough Weaver completed the Saint Scarlet team with rounds of 88 and 79 for a 166 total.
