Saints Earn At-Large Bid into 2009 NCAA Championship

Nov. 15: For the second consecutive year, the nationally-ranked St. Lawrence University men's cross country team earned an at-large bid into the NCAA Championship race. The Saints will compete at next weekend's national event hosted by Baldwin-Wallace in Cleveland, OH.
"The top teams in the Atlantic Region all ran very well on Saturday, and we knew it would be a tough battle to finish in the top-5," said St. Lawrence head coach John Newman. "It was a tense 24 hours waiting for the NCAA Committee's decision, but we're proud to be given the opportunity to have the full men's team accompany the St. Lawrence women, in hopes that both teams improve on last year's national finishes."
The men's squad finished in 17th place last season at the 2008 NCAA Championship race, while the women were 21st overall.
The women's NCAA Championship race is scheduled to begin at 11:00am on Saturday, November 21 with the men's race to follow at 12:00pm.
