Feb. 5:  The St. Lawrence men's basketball team shot over 50% Friday night to take down conference opponent Vassar College, 82-60 for the second time this season.

The Saints improve to an 11-9 (7-2) record, while the Brewers fall to a 2-17 (0-8) mark.

Sophomore Terry Parham, senior captain Josh Sharlow, and sophomore Ralph Temgoua all earned 11 points to lead the Scarlet and Brown.  Temgoua also picked up team-highs with seven rebounds and four assists, along with a game-high two steals, which he shared with teammates' first-year David Hosty and senior captain Andy Hoercher.  Vassar's Caleb McGraw led his team with 19 points, shooting 6-of-17 from the floor, and was supported by teammate Marvin Smith who posted ten points.  John Donnelly also fared well for the Brewers, picking up game-highs with eight rebounds and five assists.

Although Vassar was able to take the lead early in the first half, the Saints tied the score at seven shortly after as first-year Nick Meunier chipped one in off the glass, sparking an 8-0 run for his team.  The Brewers climbed back to within five points of the Saints as Donnelly posted two off a layup, but a combination of a nice tip-in from sophomore Garrett Sharlow and a solid three from Parham put St. Lawrence back up by ten with 5:40 on the clock (25-15).  The Saints increased their advantage to 14 as the clock hit the two minute warning, thanks to Garrett Sharlow's accuracy from the free-throw line.  Although Donnelly responded with back-to-back foul shots, Temgoua was able to tip one in from underneath to maintain the 14 point lead for St. Lawrence as the half came to a close (40-26).

The Saints brought even more offensive pressure in the second half as they shot 59.3% from the floor.  With nearly four minutes gone, St. Lawrence was ahead by 26 points after Josh Sharlow hit a pair of free-throws.  The Scarlet and Brown were able to maintain a 20 plus lead on Vassar for a majority of the half, until Casey Black sunk a jump shot to cut the deficit to 18 (63-45) with 9:13 left in regulation.  However, it wasn't long before the Saints regained their 20 plus advantage with some nice shooting from first-year's Kyle Miller and Jon Goldberg, as well as sophomore Jon Eppolito.  As the clock hit the two minute warning, sophomore Corey Begly nailed an easy jumper to put St. Lawrence ahead by 27 points with a score of 80-56.  The Brewers were able to work their way back to within 22 points as Chris Whitney and Ethan Shanley hit a pair of layups, but the Saints sustained their comfortable lead, walking away with the 82-60 victory.

St. Lawrence scored 12 points off turnovers, while Vassar earned nine, and posted 40 points in the paint, compared to the Brewers' 16.  The Saints also racked up 18 second chance points, while Vassar tallied six, and picked up 19 fast break points compared to the Brewers' two.  The Saints were particularly impressive off the bench, totaling 82 bench points to top Vassars' 20.

The Saints look to avenge Liberty League opponent Rensselaer tomorrow, February 6th in Troy, NY, after falling to the Engineers in a tight 75-71 match at home.  Tip-off is set for 4:00 pm.
