Saints No. 1 in Liberty League Coaches' Poll

Nov. 11: The St. Lawrence University men's basketball team has been selected the preseason favorite to win the Liberty League in 2009-10 according to the conference's annual coaches poll.
St. Lawrence, which won the regular season championship in 2008-09, finished with 44 points in the poll, including five first place votes. The Saints were followed closely by Hamilton College, with 42 points and two first place votes, and North Country rival Clarkson University, who had 38 points and a first place ballot.
"We are excited to be the preseason favorites, but know that difficult conference and non-conference games await us throughout the year," St. Lawrence Head Coach Chris Downs said. "We're looking forward to opening the 2009-10 season on Sunday against a talented Brockport squad."
Rensselaer is fourth in the preseason poll, with 28 points, followed by Hobart (25), Skidmore (21), Union (19), and Vassar (7).
The St. Lawrence men's basketball team will open the regular season on Sunday, Nov. 14 against SUNY Brockport in the Burkman Gymnasium. Tip-off is set for 4:00 pm.
