Eight Saints Earn Liberty League All-Conference Recognition

Nov. 5: Eight members of St. Lawrence University's 2009 field hockey team earned Liberty League all conference recognition in voting by the league's coaches and two were asked to play in the 2009 NFHCA Division III All-Star game.
Senior forward Joss-Elyse Smith, senior goal keeper Emilie Lannamann, and senior defender Jennifer Stetson were each first team selections. Junior forward Brooke Maloney and sophomore midfielder Emily Riley were named to the second team. Juniors' Caitlin Estes and Michelle Laframboise were accorded honorable mention status, along with sophomore Taylor Vogt.
Smith had a standout season, leading the Saints in points with 35, and earning her second first team honor since 2007. She racked up 15 goals and 5 assists for the Scarlet and Brown, moving up to the first team after being named to the conference's second team in 2008-09.
Stetson was named to the first team for the third year in a row. She had the third highest total points for the Saints in 2009 with 18, scoring six goals and earning six assists. Stetson proved to be clutch in the back end, leading the Scarlet and Brown in defensive saves with seven.
In addition to earning first team conference honors, Smith and Stetson were both asked to compete in the 2009 NFHCA Division III Senior All-Star game. The game will be played on Sunday, November 22, 2009 at Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley, MA, starting at 9:30 am.
Lannamann was named to the conference's first team for the second year in a row. She made 94 saves in 2009, averaging a save percentage of .777. Lannamann recorded a goals against average of 1.59, and earned two shutouts for the Saints in 2009.
Maloney earned Liberty League honors for the second year in a row after being named to the first team in 2008-09. She had the fourth highest total points for the Scarlet and Brown in 2009 with 16, accumulating five goals and six assists. Maloney is also one of five Saints to earn Liberty League All-Academic honors for 2009, which requires a cumulative grade point average of 3.2 or higher and sophomore or higher academic standing.
Riley earned second team honors for the second year in a row. She racked up 12 points for the Saints in 2009, with four goals and four assists. Riley is also a member of the Liberty League's All-Academic team.
Along with earning All-Academic recognition, Estes had the second highest total points for the Saints in 2009, grabbing eight goals and four assists. Lafromboise racked up 14 points for the Scarlet and Brown with four goals and six assists. She is also a member of the conference All-Academic team. Vogt accumulated 14 points for the Saints, scoring six goals and totaling two assists.
Junior Kelsey Berry and sophomore Dylan Cutler were also named to the Liberty League All-Academic team.
