Clarkson Ends Saint Season in Liberty League Tourney

Clarkson jumped out to a 3-0 lead through five innings and then answered a St. Lawrence run in the top of the seventh with four in the bottom of the same inning to post a 11-3 win over the Saints, ending SLU's season in the Liberty League tournament on Saturday.
Chris Cook sustained just his second loss of the season as Clarkson tapped him for 12 hits and six earned runs in just over seven innings of work on the mound.
Clarkson took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth inning with two out as Scott Morrissey came through with a run-producing single and a double by Brady Torbitt and a single by Matt Curry produced two more runs in the bottom of the fifth.
The Saints got on the board in the top of the seventh as Tim Harris reached on a single, went to second when Ethan Braddock reached on an error and scored on Bryan Brennan's single, but Clarkson came right back with a two-run homer by David Kinney, an RBI single by Chris Faltiesisek and a run-scoring fielder's choice to make it a 7-1 game.
Matt DeLuca hit a solo homer to lead off the top of the eighth and Matt D'Auteiul later walked and scored on a passed ball, but Clarkson came back with another four runs in the bottom of the eighth to put the game away.
DeLuca went three-for-five for the Saints while Brennan and Harris had two hits each as the Saints complete their season with a 19-20 overall record. Clarkson stayed alive in the losers bracket of the tournament.
