Saints Split Monday Games In Florida
March 16: Lakeland College scored nine runs in the top of the seventh inning and took a 17-4 win from St. Lawrence in game one of a two-game set in Fort Meyers, FL on Monday, but the Saints bounced back to beat Babson 8-6 in the second game.
St. Lawrence, now 2-3, has Tuesday off before concluding its Florida trip with games Wednesday and Thursday. The Saints are scheduled to open Liberty League competition in Troy against defending champion RPI on Saturday.
Matt Landers went five innings in his return from Tommy John surgery against Lakeland. Ryan Duff drove in two runs and Sam Kelley went three for three with a run driven in. Tim Harris and Kirk Shimkin also had a pair of hits for the Saints.
Against Babson, Chris Cook went six solid innings, striking out seven and Zach Slater earned the win in relief with three scoreless innings.
Garrett Ftizgerald drove in the tying and go-ahead runs with two outs in the top of the eighth as part of a two-for-five afternoon while Kelly, Duff, Harris and Sean Voss each had two hits for the Saints.
