It was a tough day for a young St. Lawrence University
baseball team at defending Liberty League champion Rensselaer on Sunday
as the Redhawks swept the Saints 7-1 and 25-2 in a doubleheader to
complete the first weekend of league play.

RPI, 8-4 overall and 4-0 in the league, got a four hitter form John
Dreimeille in game one and outhit the Saints 25-9 in the nightcap,
scoring 13 times in the third inning to coast to the lopsided second
game win. The Saints, 4-7 overall and 0-4 in league play are scheduled
to host Rochester next weekend.

Ryan Brennan drove in the only Saint run in game one as Dreimille held
SLU to four hits over six innings and struck out eight. Sean Voss took
the loss for the Saints.

RPI jumped out to a 18-0 lead in game two and coasted to the win as Jim
Devine went five for seven and drove in six runs to lead the Redhawk
attack. Chris Donaldson had two hits for the Saints and Tim Harris and
Taylor Engle had run-scoring hits.
